In Brief
Small school. Around 120 students across grades 1-12. Sits in Gangnam, Yeoksam-ro. Founded 2007.
Curriculum is a split: IB PYP in primary, then Cambridge IGCSE and AICE Diploma through high school. Worth knowing the school used to run IB MYP in middle school and switched - so older online info contradicts itself. Ask them directly about the rationale.
Fees are roughly KRW 27-28m a year. That puts it well below the big-name internationals (SFS, SIS, Dulwich, KIS) but it is still a serious cost. People talking about KFS often mention the price-to-size ratio - small school, premium fees.
What people actually say:
The community feel is the thing that comes through most. Parents describe it as friendly, calm, and personal. One parent said sending their kids there was "the best decision I could have ever made," and another simply called it "fantastic" and praised the staff's dedication. Small classes (10-15) mean teachers know every kid.
The flip side of small is also real. On the staff side, one teacher review flagged that staff "wear many hats" - teaching plus committees plus clubs - which they described as draining. Translation for a parent: turnover and stretched teachers are a risk to watch. Ask about staff retention when you visit.
A minority of reviewers have been blunt that academics aren't rigorous enough, particularly in sciences. Hard to know how representative that is given the small sample, but worth probing - ask to see recent IGCSE and AICE results and university destinations.
Bullying chatter that comes up in Seoul school discussions is mostly about the larger Gangnam schools, not KFS specifically. KFS's smaller size probably mutes that dynamic.
Bottom line for your friend: KFS is a small, community-feel school at a mid-tier price point for Seoul. Good fit if your friend wants their kid known by name and is comfortable with Cambridge over IB Diploma at the top end. Less obvious fit if they want a big campus, deep co-curricular bench, or top-end university counselling at scale. Worth a visit and a direct conversation about teacher retention and recent exam results.
