In Brief
Sits on the Ruwi Valley side of the city, on land donated by Sultan Qaboos. Founded 1975 by the Pakistani Cultural Centre. Run by a board elected by parents under the Omani Ministry of Education. Around 1,000 students, KG to Year 13.
This is the community school for the Pakistani expat population in Muscat — that is the centre of gravity, and it is what people choose it for. If your friend isn't Pakistani, this almost certainly isn't the right school. If they are, it is the obvious anchor.
Curriculum is a hybrid: FBISE Islamabad alongside Cambridge IGCSE and Edexcel A Levels. Children can stay on a Pakistani academic track without losing British university routes. Graduates do go on to good universities in Oman and abroad.
Reputation locally is for discipline and academics, not facilities or frills. According to one parent, "studies and discipline of PSM is just outstanding." Another said the school has "dedicated teachers, helpful staff." Communication with parents is described as quick. The campus overlooks Ruwi — older buildings, expanded in stages since 1981, functional rather than glossy.
Fees are very low by international-school standards in Muscat (annual fees are in the tens to low hundreds of rials, not thousands). That is the point — it exists to keep Pakistani schooling accessible to the community, not to compete with the British or American schools across town. Class sizes will feel bigger than at a premium international school. Sports, arts and extracurriculars exist but are modest.
There is very little independent online chatter — no real Reddit thread, and the review sites are short and uniformly warm. Take that as a signal that this is a tight community school where word of mouth happens at the gate, not online. Best move: ask the Pakistani community in Muscat directly. They will have a clear and quick view.
Bottom line for your friend: a strong, affordable, community-rooted choice if they're Pakistani and want their child rooted in that curriculum and culture while keeping IGCSE/A Level options open. Not the right fit if they want a Western-style international school experience.
