Two schools under one roof. HFS runs ICSE/ISC. HFS International runs IB and Cambridge. Same campus, same trust, very different price points and feel. Make sure you know which one you're applying to.

It is the default "good school" for Powai families. Big - around 2,600 students. Established 1990. Most local parents you'll meet either send their kids here or considered it.

What people actually like. The campus is solid and the township location is genuinely convenient if you live in Hiranandani Gardens. Strong co-curricular menu - MUN, debate, music, sport. Several parents single out specific teachers as exceptional and say their kids came out confident and articulate. The IB stream sends kids to good universities abroad; the ICSE side has a long, steady results record.

What to push on. The school is large, and the recurring complaint from parents online is that it can feel that way - if your child needs hand-holding, ask very specifically how pastoral care works. Bullying response is the single most common gripe. According to one parent, the school was "slow to act" when issues were raised; another flagged inconsistent follow-through. Worth raising directly in your tour.

Admissions are competitive and parents talk about the process being opaque - one parent described it as "biased" toward existing Hiranandani families. Treat that as a flag to ask about, not a verdict.

Fees. ICSE side is mid-range for Powai (roughly Rs 70k-1.2L/year depending on grade). The IB stream is materially more expensive - budget accordingly.

Bottom line for your friend. It's a credible, established choice and most families are happy. Not the warmest school in Powai - more institutional than boutique. If your kid is robust, academically engaged, and you want a known quantity in the neighbourhood, it works. If they need a smaller, gentler environment, look at Bombay Scottish (Powai) or one of the smaller IB options too before committing.
