In Brief
Genuinely independent online chatter about NAISAK is thin - which tells you something. Most expat families in Al Khor are on QatarEnergy contracts and their kids go to AKIS, the company school. NAISAK picks up the rest, plus a growing number from Lusail and Festival City who bus in (about 20 minutes each way).
What the picture looks like on the ground:
The primary school is the strong half. Parents talk about it warmly - happy kids, accessible teachers, a real sense of community. According to one parent, "we have had children in NAISAK for 7 and our experience has been exceptional." Pastoral care for younger children gets repeat mentions, including good handling of social anxiety and settling-in.
The secondary school is the weaker half. Independent reviewers have flagged the secondary facilities as tired and noted concerns about how mixed the cohort is in terms of academic level. Historic teacher turnover was a real issue - the most recent BSO inspection said retention has improved meaningfully under the current principal, which matches what current parents say.
The Nord Anglia network perks (MIT, Juilliard, UNICEF tie-ins) are real but lighter touch than the marketing suggests. Don't pick the school for those. Pick it for the primary experience and the community feel.
Practical: it's in Al Khor, not Doha. If your friend isn't living in Al Khor or Lusail, the daily commute is the thing to stress-test before committing. The bus network works but it's a long day for a small child.
Bottom line for a friend moving over: solid primary, watch the secondary carefully on a tour, ask pointed questions about staff turnover in the year groups your kids will join, and check the bus route honestly against your home address.
