The thing you need to know: SABIS is a very specific system. Tightly scripted curriculum, weekly testing from young, heavy drilling in maths and English. People either swear by it or can't wait to leave. There isn't much middle ground.

The parents who like it really like it. They mention strong English, solid maths, dedicated teachers, and — importantly here — that it doesn't feel as socially pressured as some of the flashier Dubai schools. According to one parent, "the school genuinely cares about the children as individuals." Another said they wouldn't put their kids anywhere else.

The complaints are consistent across forums. Too much testing. Not enough creativity or independent thinking. Limited parent-teacher contact by design — SABIS routes communication through admin layers rather than letting you talk to the class teacher directly. One parent put it bluntly: the school can "feed too much and not let the kids enough free thinking."

Bullying concerns and class sizes (up to ~35) come up. SEN provision is historically thin — if your child needs learning support, look elsewhere.

Inspection-wise, the regulator (SPEA) lifted them from Acceptable to Good in 2024. That's a real improvement and worth taking seriously.

Good fit if your child is academically robust, you want strong exam outcomes at a reasonable price, and you're comfortable with a structured, drill-heavy approach. Genuinely poor fit if your child needs creative, inquiry-led learning, has any SEN, or you're a parent who wants close contact with teachers.

Tell them to visit, sit in on a class if they can, and talk to current parents at the gate — Choueifat is the kind of school where the gap between the brochure and the daily reality is wider than usual, in both directions.
