Long-established Mexican private school (founded 1973). IB pioneer in Mexico. Now in alliance with Cognita group (since 2022) — so expect a slow drift toward more international polish.

Two campuses, both south of the city. They are quite different. Pick carefully.

- Periférico (Pedregal de Carrasco, Coyoacán): the main site. Full age range, 18 months to 18. Modern, 16,000 m², proper labs, sports, STEAM, the lot. - Altavista (San Ángel): smaller, prettier neighbourhood, but only kinder and primary, and noticeably lighter on facilities. Kids bus over to Periférico for some classes.

What people actually say

Academics get a genuine thumbs-up. Strong in English and maths. According to one parent, teachers are "well-prepared and truly care about student learning." The values/character side is taken seriously and parents like that. Atmosphere described as warm — "los dejan ser niños," one parent said, and praised the freedom to be authentic.

The honest caveats:

- Pastoral care is uneven. Recurring mentions of bullying not always handled well, and a minority of teachers described as unprofessional. Not universal — but it comes up often enough to ask about it on the tour. - The student body skews wealthy and well-connected. Some parents feel that has shifted the culture over the years. - Fees are high and value-for-money opinions split. One teacher said management is "sumamente estrictos" — strict culture extends to staff, which can mean turnover. - Accessibility (for anyone with mobility needs) is poor — lots of stairs.

Bottom line for your friend

A solid, serious academic school with real IB pedigree and a Mexican identity, not a transplanted international school. If your kid will thrive in a structured, traditional environment with strong academics, it works well. If you want a more multicultural expat-heavy peer group, ASF or Greengates fit that bill better. Push hard on pastoral care and anti-bullying process during the visit, and make sure you're choosing the right campus for your child's age and the level of facilities you want.
