In Brief

Aquinas sits in Monte Alina, Pozuelo. Catholic, US curriculum, IB Diploma optional in the final two years. Smaller and more affordable than ASM down the road.

The community is real. Long-tenure families speak warmly about the teachers and the close-knit feel. Sport is a genuine strength, particularly the football and basketball academies. Several parents say their kids went on to good universities well-prepared.

The honest caveats. The vibe leans traditional Catholic and disciplinary, more than the "American" label suggests. A few parents felt the tone under recent leadership tipped into strict. According to one parent, the atmosphere felt "gloomy" with "demotivated and frightened children." That is one voice, but it echoes a softer concern others raise about management priorities.

Recurring grumbles. Cafeteria food. Annual fee rises. A perception that ownership is focused on expansion (new campus in Malaga, residence, academies) ahead of investing in the existing campus. One teacher said management is "focused on business rather than education." Take with salt, but worth asking about.

What to ask on the tour. How is discipline handled day-to-day. How parent feedback is gathered (there is no formal parent association). What recent investment has gone into the Pozuelo facilities. Whether the Catholic ethos is light-touch or front-and-centre, depending on what your friend wants.

Bottom line. A solid, reasonably priced option with strong sport and a tight community, especially if the family is comfortable with a Catholic school. Worth visiting and trusting their gut on the atmosphere.
