In Brief

Quick read for a parent moving in.

Paragon sits in Plentong, purpose-built campus, opened 2014 with the new building in 2017. Two streams under one roof: a Malaysian National stream and a Cambridge International stream (IGCSE). International stream fees are roughly RM 20-28k a year — properly affordable by international-school standards.

The honest word on the ground is mixed.

On the upside: families who've stayed tend to like the teachers. Smaller, family-feel school. Kids who arrive shy seem to settle. According to one parent, their son "showed great improvement in academics and social and communication skills" with steady encouragement from staff. The dual curriculum is a genuine plus if you're undecided between local and international tracks, or want a softer-cost entry point.

On the downside: the school's reputation among staff is rougher than its reputation among parents. Reviews repeatedly flag heavy workloads, hard-to-take leave, and weak middle management. One teacher said management has a "not my job" culture and pushes staff to work through illness. That kind of thing tends to show up later as teacher churn, which parents feel.

There's also one serious public complaint from a parent who pulled their daughter out citing wellbeing concerns and ended up in a fees dispute over RM 13,579 — they took it to the Johor MOE. One case isn't a pattern, but it's worth knowing the contract terms before signing, especially the withdrawal and deposit clauses.

Bottom line for your friend: viable mid-tier option, decent value, watch for teacher turnover when you visit, ask current parents how long their child's class teachers have been there, and read the fee contract carefully before paying anything non-refundable. Worth shortlisting, worth visiting, not a slam-dunk.
