Repton International School (Seri Alam)

First thing to know: the school doesn't really exist under that name anymore. Excelsior was acquired and rebranded as Repton International School (Seri Alam) under the Raffles Campus Group. Same campus, same 20 acres next to UiTM in Bandar Seri Alam, but new branding, new uniforms, IB and A-Level layered on top.

That matters because most of what people say online refers to the old Excelsior era. Take older comments with a pinch of salt.

The campus is genuinely the standout. Olympic-size pool, full soccer pitch with artificial turf, proper running track, tennis courts. According to one parent, it was "probably the best school facilities we ever seen to-date." Worth seeing in person.

The historic gripes are about feel rather than facilities. Same parent said they "just don't feel the same warm welcome" on tour and described a "rigidity" in how things were run, with textbook answers to questions about a child's allergies. Another parent called it "absolutely not worth the price," flagging maintenance and staff retention. There were also reports of families leaving when fees jumped at one point.

On the flip side, longer-tenured parents have been warm, with one calling it "the best school ever" after seven years there. Teachers get described as caring and open-minded by those who stayed.

Practical take for your friend: visit the campus, but go in asking Repton-era questions. How much of the old Excelsior leadership and teaching staff remains? What is the IB Diploma cohort actually doing at university? How are they handling individual learning needs and allergies now? The facilities will sell themselves. The culture is the bit to probe.

Location-wise, Seri Alam is east of JB city, not Iskandar Puteri, so factor commute carefully if your friend is settling on the western side or commuting from Singapore.
