Al Andalus is a long-established Saudi family of schools (founded 1984) with multiple Jeddah campuses. Curriculum varies by branch — most run an American track alongside the National curriculum, and a couple of campuses are IB-authorised. Worth checking which campus you're being offered.

Parents who post about it are generally warm. The recurring praise is the balance of Qur'an, Arabic and English alongside academics, and teachers who clearly care. According to one parent, "strong education and excellent teachers, with emphasis on character development." Several mention staff who go out of their way to accommodate kids with learning or health needs.

It is primarily a Saudi-family school, not an expat-heavy international school. Arabic and Islamic studies sit at the core. If your friend's children are non-Arabic-speaking expats, this is the most important thing to weigh — they'd be in a minority and the cultural register is different from BISJ, AIS-J or Jeddah Knowledge.

Two soft caution flags from the wider chatter. Teacher feedback is mixed: one teacher said the school is "safe, welcoming and professional" but others flag heavy workloads and middling pay, which can show up as turnover. And at least one older student review said the school "cares little about students' opinions" — read that as: management runs top-down, not a Western-style student-voice culture.

Bottom line for your friend: a solid, well-run Saudi private school with genuine care for kids and strong Arabic/Islamic grounding. Right fit for an Arabic-speaking or Muslim family wanting bilingual rigour. If they want a true international cohort and Western-style ethos, push them to look at the more expat-oriented options first and treat Andalus as plan B.
