In Brief
TH School is owned by TH Group, the same conglomerate behind TH true Milk. Founder Thai Huong is one of Vietnam's better-known businesspeople, and the school is part of her wider "True Happiness" project. That backing shows up in the campuses - Chua Boc in town and the larger Hoa Lac boarding site are genuinely impressive buildings.
Be clear-eyed about what kind of school it is. The student body is overwhelmingly Vietnamese, not expat. The curriculum is 80% English-medium international (Cambridge IGCSE and A Level), 20% Vietnamese language, history, and culture. It markets itself as international but functions closer to a high-end Vietnamese bilingual school. If your friend wants their child surrounded by other expat kids, this is not UNIS or BIS Hanoi.
Teachers are recruited from the UK, US, Australia. Glassdoor scores them around 4/5 with most teachers saying they'd recommend it - one teacher said "enthusiastic students, passionate teachers." Pay and training reportedly reasonable.
The recurring criticism, even in otherwise positive reviews, is communication. According to one parent, "communication between teachers, staff, and administrators isn't always effective, leading to inconsistent evaluation of students." That's the thing to test on a school visit - ask how parent-teacher feedback loops actually work.
Reddit and the expat forums are quiet on TH specifically. Hanoi expats default to talking about UNIS, BIS, Concordia, St Paul's. TH rarely comes up in those conversations, which itself is a signal - it's not yet on the expat radar in the way the bigger names are.
Food angle is unusual and worth flagging: meals are sourced through TH Group's own dairy and organic produce arms. Parents seem to like that.
Bottom line for your friend: strong facilities, serious money behind it, decent academic track via Cambridge, but the peer group will be largely Vietnamese students whose parents want an English-medium education. Visit both campuses, ask hard questions about communication, and ask to see the nationality breakdown of the year group their child would join.
